Ideal Education

If you want to build a ship, don't drum up people to collect wood and don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

I wish more teachers kept this quote in mind while educating the young, fresh and adaptive minds. You have to instigate passion in them for the subject instead of making things complicated and elitist. Sigh

dude.. ideal education is exactly the opposite of what we go for in IIT. The goal here is not to educate but to produce workers who can build the ships with no questions asked and no want of a life. And it does its job well...

@mayank: I don't think the education is that bad here. It is probably not the most exciting and very boring with 'aimless' assignments, so it's really difficult to maintain the 'love of the subject'.
Most people come here for want of a 'good' life and I think that is true for almost all universities. Since here, people have never seen anything outside that life, I guess you could say that their perspective is a bit narrow.
